What Do You Mean, "Give Up on the United States"?

Over at that evil time sink known as TVTropes,  there's an entry called "Exactly What It Says On the Tin." The trope is named in honor of Ronseal Quick Drying Woodstain, which is A) a product that stains wood, and B) dries quickly, and C) is made by Ronseal. This blog seeks to emulate that forthright labeling.

Most people who find this blog will love the United States of America, feel themselves as part of it, and want to protect and defend it. At the same time, you probably feel that the U.S. is in terrible shape in many ways, that it took a wrong turn, that it needs to change course before terrible things happen to it. And you desperately want that change of course to take place.

The aim of this blog is to destroy those feelings. My goal is to alter your emotions, till you view the U.S. as something like Russia: it exists, it's important, it's continued existence may affect me, but really, you don't care.  It doesn't concern you, emotionally.

This will not be a pleasant process. I'm mildly sorry about that.
